QuellCast Terms of Use

The short version: QuellCast is a podcast player that reduces profanity on your own device. It's very accurate but not perfect — please don't rely on it as a guarantee that a show is free of language. QuellCast isn't affiliated with any podcast or with Apple, and it plays only the public feeds you choose.

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and GR Digital Media LLC ("we," "us," "our"), the maker of the QuellCast app ("QuellCast" or the "App"). By downloading or using QuellCast, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the App.

1. Apple's standard license

QuellCast is licensed, not sold, to you for personal, non-commercial use on Apple devices you own or control, in accordance with Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement ("Apple EULA"). These Terms supplement the Apple EULA; where they conflict, these Terms govern to the extent permitted. Apple is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the App.

2. What QuellCast does

QuellCast is an on-device podcast player. It fetches the public RSS feeds and episode audio of the shows you choose, transcribes episodes locally on your iPhone, and — during playback — silences words that match its profanity list by lowering the volume in those moments. All of this happens on your device.

QuellCast does not host, store on our servers, alter, or redistribute any podcast. It never creates or saves an edited copy of an episode; it applies a temporary "mute map" while you listen. The original files remain the property of their publishers, unchanged.

3. The profanity filter is not a guarantee

QuellCast's filtering relies on automated on-device speech recognition. It is highly accurate but not perfect. It may miss words (for example, unusual pronunciations, accents, slang, mumbling, music, or overlapping speech), and it may occasionally silence words it shouldn't. Accuracy varies by show, audio quality, and episode.

Do not rely on QuellCast as a guarantee that any episode is free of profanity or suitable for any particular listener, including children. You are responsible for deciding what you and those in your care listen to.

4. Your responsibilities

You choose which shows to add and are responsible for the content of the podcasts you subscribe to and play.
Use QuellCast only for lawful, personal listening.
Don't copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell, or redistribute the App except as allowed by law or the Apple EULA.

5. In-app purchase

QuellCast is free to use and includes a free allowance of cleaned episodes. A one-time in-app purchase ("QuellCast Pro") unlocks unlimited cleaning. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and are subject to Apple's terms; any refunds are handled by Apple. Prices are shown in the App before purchase.

6. No affiliation with podcasts or Apple

QuellCast and GR Digital Media LLC are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to any podcast, podcast host, creator, network, or Apple Inc. Podcast names, logos, and artwork shown in the App are the property of their respective owners and are displayed only to help you identify the public feeds you choose to play. QuellCast's access to those feeds is the same standard access any podcast app or web browser has.

7. Intellectual property

The QuellCast app, its name and logo, its profanity word list, and its other original content are owned by GR Digital Media LLC and are protected by law. These Terms grant you a personal license to use the App; they do not transfer any ownership to you. Podcast content belongs to its respective publishers.

8. Warranty disclaimer

QuellCast is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the profanity filter will catch or correctly handle any particular word or episode.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, GR Digital Media LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on the profanity filter, the availability of any podcast, or your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App will not exceed the amount you paid us for it (which may be zero). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

10. Third-party content and links

Podcasts, their feeds, and any links within episode notes are provided by third parties. We don't control and aren't responsible for that content, its availability, or its accuracy.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be posted at this address with an updated effective date. Continuing to use QuellCast after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. This does not limit any consumer-protection rights you may have under the laws of your place of residence.
